A backup is not only for family photos

What should a solo pro do when their booking app suddenly goes down? Prepare in advance: set up a second app and add the essentials to it, that is, your regular clients, your schedule, your services and your booking link. Then on the day of an outage you are not left with an empty screen: you keep working and can tell clients where to book.

We back up family photos to the cloud and keep important documents in two places. But the client base and the schedule that your whole income depends on often sit in a single app. While it works, you do not think about it.

Outages happen to everyone, and that is normal

Any service is unavailable from time to time, for all kinds of reasons. Lately, solo pros have more than once been left without access to their bookings for a while, and every such case was a reminder of the same thing. The app that holds all your work becomes a weak spot if it is the only one.

This is not about whose service is better, or about blame. The right habit here is the same as with photos: a backup is needed not because something will surely happen, but because if it does, there is too much to lose.

What to add to the backup app in advance

A backup does not have to be a copy of everything. Three things are enough to keep you working while your main service is down:

  • Regular clients. Add the people you work with most often: manually or from your phone’s contacts. If the contacts are in your phone, it takes a few minutes.
  • Schedule and services. Choose your specialization, workplace, schedule and a few main services. Basic setup in Talenza takes about 5 minutes. The rest can be added later.
  • Booking link. The “Book a client” card on the home screen has a link and a QR code. If your main app is down, send the link to a client and they book on their own, with no back-and-forth about free time.

How to run two apps without getting confused

You can use Talenza alongside the service you use now. You do not have to switch completely or close the old service. But two schedules need care: make sure the same time is not taken in both places. The simplest rule: accept new bookings where you are used to, and once a week check the backup app against the main one for the coming days.

Data from another service is not transferred automatically: not clients, not services, not future bookings. You enter all of it yourself, so it is better to start with the essentials and not wait for the day the app is already down. The steps are described in the help center: How to move to Talenza from another booking service.

Why we bet on simplicity

A backup app should take an evening to set up, not a week, or nobody will set it up “just in case”. That is why simple sign-up and an easy-to-understand interface have always been our strengths: you sign in, answer a few questions, and the schedule is ready. Talenza is free to use with no time limit; only SMS notifications from a prepaid balance are paid.

Summary

Backing up the data of a small business is as ordinary a habit as backing up family photos. Set up a second app in advance, add your regular clients and schedule to it, and save your booking link. If the day is an ordinary one, you have lost nothing. If not, you keep working. May there always be a backup.
