To fill your bookings before New Year, open the December slots at the start of November, message your regular clients first, keep room in the week for reschedules and set up gift certificates in advance. Below is a plan for November and December that you can go through week by week without turning the preparation into a rush.
Pre-holiday booking isn’t the last week of December. Demand wakes up earlier. According to Yandex Wordstat (Russia, all devices), the phrase “pre-New-Year booking” was searched 362 times in October 2025, 1,523 times in November and 1,061 times in December, and “book a manicure for New Year” 182 times in November and 151 in December, with almost no searches in September and October. These are clients’ search queries, but they show the main point: people start choosing a time for the holiday weeks in November. If your slots only appear in December, the best dates will already be gone.
First, check that clients can actually see December
The most frustrating reason for empty pre-holiday days is that a client opened your link and found no free time, because booking isn’t open far enough ahead. In Talenza this is the setting “How many days ahead booking is open” in “Settings” → “Online booking”. The default is 30 days, and anything from 1 to 365 is allowed.
If you have 30 days on 1 November, a client will only see time up to the start of December. For the page to show the whole month up to 31 December, you need about 60 days in early November. While you’re there, check your working hours and days off and breaks: decide in advance which days between the holidays you work, and mark the rest as days off so clients don’t book time you don’t have.
First week of November: write to your regular clients
Regular clients are the most reliable way to fill the schedule: they already trust you and you don’t have to explain anything. Write to them first, before the general announcement, and let them choose the best time.
Anna, hello! I’m opening bookings for December. If you’d like to come in before the holidays, the best days go quickly. You can pick a time here: [link]
Clients who come on a schedule don’t need to choose each time: in Talenza you can create a booking for several visits ahead at once, as we described in the article “A regular client in one booking, months ahead”.
Second week: show your free time
Once regular clients have picked their slots, the rest are for new people. Don’t make them search your page: collect the slots yourself. In Talenza, on the main screen in the “Today’s bookings” card there is a “Free slots” button: the app subtracts bookings, breaks and days off from your schedule and gathers what’s left for the chosen period into a PDF card or a text message with a booking link. You can send that to a messenger or post it in a channel; we describe how it works in the article “Free slots are a reason to remind clients about yourself”.
Don’t spread yourself across all days at once. Show the next two weeks, and the next period once those fill up: a list where everything is taken looks better than a list where everything is free.
Keep room for reschedules
In December plans change more often than in other months: office parties, trips, illness. If your schedule is packed to the minute, any reschedule becomes a hole you can’t fill. Keep one or two spare slots in the week: put a break in them, and online booking won’t show that time, while you can free it up at any moment. That way one reschedule won’t break the other days.
Three things help to have fewer reschedules and make their effects milder:
- A reminder a day ahead with confirmation. The client gets a link where they can confirm the booking or cancel it with a single tap, and you learn about a cancellation in advance. How to set it up is in the help article on no-shows.
- Holding the slot without confirmation. In popular hours, when several people manage to book the same time, this mode closes the slot right after the first booking (how to turn it on).
- A waitlist. If a client couldn’t find a time, don’t say “sorry, everything’s taken”: put them on the list for the period they need. When someone cancels, you get a notification and can offer the time to a client from the list in two taps. More in the article “Waitlist: a client is not lost when there is no time right now”.
Gift certificates: set them up before December
Before the holidays clients often buy a gift rather than a service: a booking for someone close, without a specific date. A certificate takes care of that without extra conversation. In Talenza you set a face value and an expiry date, the app generates a code of eight characters and you hand it to the client. After that the recipient does everything: the code is entered in the online booking form, the price of that particular booking is deducted from it and the rest stays for the next visit.
Set the expiry with room to spare: a gift is often used only in January or February. Either a certificate or a discount applies to one booking, so explain that in advance if you offer both. Details are in the article “The full value is spent to the last ruble” and in the help article on certificates.
Don’t forget January
In the first half of January there are usually fewer clients and the schedule can sag easily. Open bookings for January before the New Year days and write to clients in the last weeks of December: “There are slots in January already, take your pick.” You can offer regular clients a personal discount “until the end of January”: a discount is attached to the client, applied to the booking automatically and can expire after the first use. How to set it up is in the article “How to offer a client a personal discount and what to write”.
What Talenza does and what stays with you
Talenza is an online booking service for solo pros: a booking page, a schedule, a client base, reminders and a waitlist. It doesn’t invent promotions and doesn’t write to clients for you: decisions about prices, dates and working days stay yours. But gathering slots into one card, reminding a client about a visit and picking up freed-up time can be done without manual routine; how much time that routine takes is covered in “How much time does auto-booking save”. More about what it offers for your line of work is on the page for beauty pros.
FAQ
When should I open bookings for December? At the start of November. Clients begin looking for pre-holiday slots early: according to Yandex Wordstat, searches for “pre-New-Year booking” in Russian were 362 in October 2025 and 1,523 in November. Check how many days ahead your booking is open: at 30 days, a client in early November can’t see all of December.
How do I avoid losing bookings when clients reschedule? Keep one or two spare slots in the week, send a reminder a day ahead with a confirm button, and keep a waitlist: when someone cancels, you can offer the time straight to a client from the list.
What if all my slots are already taken? Put clients on the waitlist with a period and a time of day. As soon as a suitable slot frees up in your schedule, the app sends you a notification, and you can offer it to the client in a couple of taps.
How should a solo pro set up gift certificates for New Year? Set a face value and an expiry date, then give the client the eight-character code. When booking online, the client enters the code themselves, and the price of that booking is deducted from the balance: the rest of the value stays for the next visit. It’s better to set the expiry with room for January and February.
Summary
Before New Year the winner is whoever started in November: booking open far ahead, a message to regular clients, a card with free slots, room for reschedules and certificates ready. December then goes calmly, and January doesn’t turn into an empty schedule.
